What is Solar PV?
Solar photovoltaic (PV) cells convert sunlight directly into electricity – the PV effect gets its name from the process of converting light (photons) to electricity (voltage).
Barloworld Power now offers renewable energy solutions through Solar PV, Cat® Thin Film technology. These high-efficiency modules provide a proven performance advantage over conventional solar cells made of multi-crystalline Silicon (m-Si).
How? Thin Film CdTe (cadmium telluride) delivers significantly higher energy density than m-Si. This means that, given the same land area with an equivalent module ground coverage ratio, Thin Film modules will produce more annual energy from the same land area than m-Si panels.
This makes Thin Film modules more cost-effective than traditional crystalline Silicon solar panels.
Cat® Thin Film technology offers the following benefits:
- Minimises fuel consumption
- Reduces CO2 emissions
- Lowers total cost of ownership
- Achieves a favourable payback period
- Commercial applications
- Industrial buildings
- Carport structures
Where will Solar PV Thin Film technology work for you?
Barloworld Power’s minimum Solar PV offering is 25 kilowatts and consists of installations on rooftops or carports for businesses with electricity costs higher than the threshold.
